St. Jude's Abbey is a cloister founded by Eleanor of Aquitaine, but the sisters do more than pray and perform good works. They are trained as warriors for the day their queen has need of them. Such a day comes for Avisa de Ware when she is asked to prevent the queen's godson, Christian Lovell, from traveling to Canterbury and the trouble brewing there between archbishop and king. Avisa is confident in her skills as a warrior, but her growing feelings for her charge threaten to conquer her as a woman.
